Mountain Warehouse is opening 20 new stores this year following a 14% rise in annual profits. Not all retailers can boast such good news.
Chief executive Mark Neale has told Radio 5 Live’s Wake Up To Money that their secret is that Mountain Warehouse products are made in the same factories as some of the better known brands “and that means we can offer better value for money”.
Plus they’ve diversified away from just “fleeces and waterproofs” to include summer items.
As far as any threat from online retailers such as Amazon Mr Neale says he regards Amazon as an “important partner” allowing the firm to sell its “gear” abroad.
